POWER5
IBM's processor generation released in 2004, the successor to POWER4, notable for introducing Micro-Partitioning and simultaneous multithreading to the Power line.
POWER5 debuted in 2004 as the successor to POWER4. It shipped in the eServer i5 (IBM i) and eServer p5 (AIX/Linux) product lines and introduced Micro-Partitioning, the ability to divide a single physical processor core into multiple logical partitions, along with simultaneous multithreading (SMT).
