Instant Power5 lookup

Power5 Feature Code and Machine Type Decoder

Turn the code on your server or IBM record into the model family, workload line, and next checks you need before buying parts, support, or a replacement.

What Power5 do you actually have?

Know which Power5 family you have before a wrong part, support quote, or replacement assumption costs time. Use the seven-character code from the server label, such as 9406-520, or a four-digit processor feature from the IBM order record.

Hyphens, spaces, and a leading number sign are optional.
Use this result as: a fast identity check. Match the answer to the server label, IBM configuration record, and operating system commands before ordering a part or approving a migration.

Three codes that people mix up

1. Machine type and model

A code such as 9406-520 or 9117-570 identifies the hardware family. Start here.

2. Processor feature

A four-digit feature code identifies a processor option inside a family. It can change capacity, clock speed, and the comparison.

3. Serial and configuration

The serial number and IBM configuration record identify your exact box, activated resources, and installed options.

A model match is the beginning of the decision. Parts, support, and migration depend on the exact processor feature, activated capacity, memory, storage, adapters, software, and recovery design.
